Text Box: Every year staff organize a special one day event for students in Year 10 to have the opportunity to consider a future at university. Students are taken off timetable to do activities to raise awareness of being at university.
During the event groups of students get to meet and work with undergraduates from different universities.
Activities included raising awareness of the range of courses available as well as the extra curricular activities on offer. One activity involved students designing an outfit to advertise a university course of their choice.
The undergraduates who joined us for the day were impressed with our students enthusiasm and excellent behaviour.
The day was a great success!

Text Box: We are delighted with the commitment and maturity shown by the KS4 students who applied for and achieved the status of Senior Student.
This dedicated team of students work closely with staff to ensure the smooth running of the school lunchtime and organize extra activities after school. Plans are well underway for Senior Students to organize school discos and lunchtime ‘Roadshows’ as well as play a leading role in other extra curricular activities and assemblies.
The Senior Student Team is providing a positive role model for all other students and are worthy ambassadors for the school.
They can be identified by the special school badge that they wear . As the scheme progresses we hope to provide them with a more visible alternate uniform to wear whilst they are on duty.

Aiming for a College Education

The new and improved 16+  common room is all any sixth former could ask for, it  meets all learning needs and has added luxuries.

There are  stunning new study rooms available to all students that want time to themselves for independent work as well as other areas for paired and group study. There are more than enough computers for everybody to use. They are state of the art machines with up to date  software installed.

The common room isn’t just for studying; there is a  ‘chill out area’ where students can take it easy, listen to music or take advantage of the vending machine or the kitchen area. There are plenty of comfortable chairs to make it as relaxing as possible during break and lunch time.

The new common room is a huge improvement from last year. This year the common room has been described as ‘spacious’, ‘ideal’, and a ‘great learning environment’.

This is what the students had to say…

‘...somewhere comfortable to sit and eat our lunch away from all the other people...’

‘...we are able to have our own food instead of the canteen food...’

‘...it’s nice and big, the computers are good, the chairs are really comfy… the common room is a lot better than last year...’

‘...it’s a nice quiet place to get on with work...’

‘...we have a toaster...’

‘...a big improvement from last year...’
