Sydney Russell School works to create good citizens for tomorrow’s world. Our students are encouraged to take an active role in the running of the school and in the discussion of issues that affect their learning and personal development. Representation in the School All students are involved in the election of their tutor group representative. There is an active school council where elected representatives regularly meet and discuss pertinent issues of school life. Minutes of the meetings are recorded and published on the school on-line bulletin to be discussed at morning registration. |

After months of hard work, endless hours of after school practice and preparation, the night everyone had been waiting for finally arrived. And surely enough, it was a night to remember… Three of Barking and Dagenham’s specialist secondary schools, Sydney Russell, Dagenham Park and Jo Richardson collaborated to produce this unique fusion of poetry, dance, music, drama and media art. The project was aimed to expose students to a diverse range of artistic styles and genres in order to provide them with a unique creative experience. Performed at the Broadway Theatre in Barking the Molten Arts Festival has become a must see highlight on our school’s calendar. |

We are on the verge of achieving Healthy School Status. Much work has gone into this and we believe it will help improve the quality of our students’ lives both in and out of school. The school community has already benefited from the improvements that we are making in the Canteen and the soon to be finished all weather pitches will provide the much needed outdoor sports area. At this time of year we also would like to extend to everyone associated with the school seasonal greetings and a happy, productive and healthy new year. |
