A Survey of our Students..

In a recent survey of Year 10 pupils at our school we found that 55% had packed lunches.  Unfortunately 70% included crisps and 85% included chocolate almost every day.  On a more positive note 50% of pupils included a piece of fruit and 100% of pupils surveyed knew you need 5 pieces of fruit or vegetables over a day for health.

To help parents and students to choose healthy options a working party of students has produced a healthy Lunchbox leaflet which will become available next term.

Physical  Endeavours in PE

As part of the healthy schools status the amount and quality of physical activity offered to students is imperative.  It is without question that a healthy, long and happy life requires physical activity on a regular basis.

Students at the Sydney Russell are given the opportunity to take part in both out of school hour’s activities, representation sports and curriculum-guided programmes.  In addition to this all students of  varying abilities are able to represent their tutor group at the whole school sports day.

Community Links

Sydney Russell School benefits from being part of the local Community Sports centre. Students have a direct opportunity to take up and gain links to activities such as martial arts, fitness, gymnastics and police cadets.
