Finals

The finals were held at Barking & Dagenham Town Hall in the council chambers on the evening of Thursday 11^th December 2008. The Sydney Russell team had reached the finals along with Robert Clack and Jo Richardson after a qualifying round involving five other local secondary schools in October.

Gifted and Talented students worked with staff and two council officials during the day to put together a presentation on how they would use a given budget to make improvements in the local area.

The competition was judged by Roger Luxton, Head of Children’s Services and representatives from the local police and council chambers. Mr Luxton pointed out in his feedback that the presentations had been of extremely high quality and difficult to judge.

Year 7 Lead the Way!

Year 7 students have made a fantastic start at SRS!  At the Christmas assembly over 100 students received certificates for having 100% attendance!  These students will be eligible for a special end of year trip if their 100% attendance record continues – keep up the excellent work!  Many students have also been rewarded with a free non-uniform day. Many Year 7 students have been  praised by their subject teachers for outstanding effort, progress and academic performance.

 Pictured below is a Year 7 form after their first form assembly. They had spent their tutorial sessions that week planning  and gathering resources to support their form’s focus on learning and achievement at The Sydney Russell School.
