Year 12 Business Studies students were recently selected to attend a Business Master Class held at City University London.

The Master Class commenced with an introduction by Student Ambassadors who formed a Student Life Panel. The student audience then had the opportunity to ask questions of the panel about their own real experiences of life as a student at University.

This was followed by a presentation from Business Psychologist and entrepreneur, Athina Kafetsiou, the key aim of which was to get a taste of what it is like to face the real challenges of being your own boss as well as understanding and practising key business tools for setting up a new business venture.

The students final task of the day was to persuade a panel of entrepreneurs about the feasibility and profitability of their business venture. Students were required to draw upon their Knowledge of entrepreneurship and PEST and SWOT analysis, after which they applied these strategies in developing a viable business. Each group of students used posters to pitch their business plan to a ‘dragon style’ panel of judges where they had to show how to invest their ’money’, the business with the most investment wins!!

A Sydney Russell group won, the business venture. They  identified a market for under 18 nightclubs. Well done to the team!
