2011 has been another excellent year for our school. We have maintained our achievement with examination results both at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Our year on year improvement is a credit to everyone who is involved with the school. We look forward to 2012 and our challenge is to ensure that our current Year 11 out perform their predecessors! We would like to wish everyone associated with the school a Merry Christmas and a happy, productive and healthy New Year. |

READ International began life in 2004 as a small project based at Nottingham University, founded by a group of socially entrepreneurial students following their ‘gap year’ teaching in Tanzania. Now it has almost 1,000 student volunteers, operating from a network of over 45 university sites across the UK. This is the second year that The Sydney Russell School has donated books to this very worthwhile cause. This year, with the new building going up, even more books were taken to the Big Yellow Storage Box in Bow. Miss Patten arranged the collection of the books and with the help of Mr. Sayers, one of the school caretakers, delivered over 50 boxes of books that will be shipped out to various schools across Tanzania. Any books that cannot be used by READ International in the schools are sold and the money from the sales is used to help pay shipping costs, therefore not one book is wasted. Thank you to everyone who supported us this year.
